Who is eligible? Will everyone who takes the DNA test participate in the study?

Men 18 years of age and above with documented evidence of prostate cancer through tissue biopsy or PSA greater than 100 ng/dL with radiographic evidence of disease can take the PROMISE DNA test. The test screens for one of the 30 cancer risk genes being tested for germline cancer risk mutations. Only patients who have at least one of these genes are eligible to participate in the PROMISE study. PROMISE is only open to individuals living in the US, including the US territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands).
